PEDANTIC SELF PORTRAIT OF LINE ARION:
Although I have a technical background, I taught myself to draw as a means of escape.
I experimented with painting but I find it far more natural to draw.
The motion of the pen on the paper to begin to shape the outline of a body is stroke it repeating the form recorded in my memory.
Drawing the lines without lifting the tip of the pen from the paper is an act of excitement and erotic liberation. From the time when prehistoric man drew bison on the walls of the cave, the picture that emerges from desire has been no more than a evocation and call to hunt.
I'm thrilled more by faces than by bodies, more by the serenity of statues than pornographic sketches and more the expression of the line than by anatomical precision.
Expressiveness and precision are the two scales of the balance. Together they provoke the exaltation of plastic sensuality of the fragments of much admired work: The accuracy of anatomy on the rugged bronze Cista Ficoroni, the imprecise accuracy of Velázquez, the casual brushwork, perfect tones and natural forms from Corot in Italy, the unfinished and misty stains of Picasso's Rose Period or the playful dance between the shards of the 'View of an Ancient City' by Klee.

Aunque he tenido una formación técnica, he aprendido a dibujar de forma autodidacta como medio de evasión. He tanteado la pintura pero me resulta más natural el dibujo. Deslizar un bolígrafo sobre el papel bordeando el perfil de un cuerpo es acariciarlo repitiendo la forma grabada en la memoria. Dibujar, prolongando las líneas al máximo, sin levantar la punta del bolígrafo del papel, es un acto de liberación erótica. Desde el hombre prehistórico que casi a oscuras dibujaba bisontes en el techo de la cueva, el dibujo que surge del deseo no ha sido más que una evocación e invocación a la caza.
Me emocionan más los rostros que los cuerpos; más la serenidad de las estatuas que el repertorio de posturitas de los dibujos pornográficos y más la expresividad de la línea que la precisión anatómica. Expresividad y precisión esos son los dos platos de la balanza. La exaltación de ambas provoca la sensualidad plástica de los pedazos de pintura que más admiro: La exactitud de las anatomías sobre el rugoso bronce de la Cista Ficoroni, la imprecisa exactitud de Velázquez, la suelta pincelada perfectamente entonada de los apuntes del natural de Corot en Italia, el inacabado y brumoso manchado del Picasso de la época rosa o el juguetón baile de aristas del dibujo “vista de una ciudad antigua” de Klee.
